Wendelberg

The Wendelberg holds a secret which can only be discovered through a small opening in the front slope of the mountain. Believe it or not – there are 170 meters of rail tracks built inside the mountain massif! From the outside, it looks as if the mountain was swallowing the trains deep down in the canyon and spitting them out again at the very top, just below the summit.

The largest track helix in Wunderland is made up of 12 loops with a diameter of 1.6 meters each, ascending like a gigantic thread, thus enabling the trains to surmount an elevation of 1.4 meters on a distance of 75 meters in approximately 5 minutes. Threaded bars made of 16 millimeter steel with screw nuts allow exact adjustment of the helix angle of every single loop.
