Scandinavia
Scandinavia is so far the biggest and technologically versatile theme world in Miniatur Wunderland.
In Juli 2005 Scandinavia was inaugurated by the consuls of the depicted Scandinavian countries Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. The North and Baltic Sea, filled with 30,000 liters of real water, ist he centerpoint of this theme world. The ocean is sailed by many ships.
At the moment the North and Baltic Sea fleet counts 16 ships. We have been researching on an auto pilot for two years to steer the ships (ship system). This shall provide that in the future 15 to 20 ships can navigate across the water only controlled by the computer. Until then the ships are steered manually.
But Scandinavia is filled with highlights, even without a revolutionary steering solution for the ships. Water, snow and light blend together in a very unique way and the simulated tides, changing every 25 minutes from ebb to flow and back, are pioneering. There are many other attractions, like the video shoot hidden in the dunes, flying fairies or a ghost ship meandering through the arctic sea. This theme world is 300 m² big and one of the most favorite ones for visitors and employees.
