The Michel - St. Michael's church

Hamburg's most famous landmark

Hamburg's main church is St. Michael's. It is one of Hamburg's most famous landmarks with its impressive nave including five organs, its vaulted cellar and the spectacular view from the church tower. St. Michael's is older than 400 years and has gone through a history of destruction and war. Twice it had to be rebuilt completely from the ground. The tower is 132 meters high and taller than most of the buildings in the city center. Therefore it is visible from almost everywhere, making it the center of the city, so to speak. It is a definite must see on your visit to Hamburg!
