Visiting the Wunderland

How much time will I need for a visit?

The average visitor takes approximately two to three hours to walk once through the exhibition. Of course you can run through the whole thing in 5 minutes, though there are visitors that need more than a day. If you are interested in taking part in one of our behind the scenes tours you should plan an extra hour for your visit.

All in all we suggest planning half a day for the visit. If you start feeling hungry we will take care of you in our restaurant

Are dogs permitted?

Yes, dogs are permitted. On busy days though, we recommend that you don't bring your dog, because neither for you or the dog it will be any fun. ;-)

Is it permitted to take pictures and videos?

Definitely YES! Taking pictures or videos for private purposes is not only permitted in Miniatur Wunderland, but explicitly desired. There are so many motives and views, that it is impossible for us to take pictures of everything. We are happy about every picture and video sent to us and encourage you to show them to your friends or share them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest etc. using our hashtag #miwula.

In addition, we offer a special service: you can charge your mobile phones, digital cameras or camcorders. All you need to do is use our charging units or sockets which are located in little lockers opposite our control station (“Leitstand”) on the 4th floor. You also have the opportunity of purchasing batteries and memory cards in our shop situated on the second floor.

Does the price for a guided tour include the entrance fee?

No. A guided tour is a service on top of the general visit, so even if you book a guided tour, you still have to pay the entrance fee.
It's different for the special events: here the tours and the entrance fee can be included in the ticket price.

Is it possible to hand in or lock away a suitcase?

Yes, you can hand in your suitcase, jackets or bags for a small fee of 0.50€ at our cloakroom. We also have a number of lockers which you can use to store jackets or small bags, all you need is a 1€ deposit.

What should I do with my pram/buggy?

You can take your pram/buggy into the exhibition if you want, however we do strongly suggest leaving it at our cloakroom for a small fee of 1€. You can put your jackets and everything else on top without additional fees.

Barrier-free Access

How do I get into the Wunderland?

The only stairs you will occur are five steps at the entrance to the building, there is a wheelchair lift situated next to them. The lift can only be operated by personnel, therefore we would ask you to contact us via +49 (0)40-300 6 800 and a colleague will come and help. (Please note that the lift has a maximum weight limit of 300 kg, which can quickly be reached by electronic wheelchairs.) From there on you will be able to access the whole exhibition by elevators.

Are there disabled toilets in the exhibition?

There is a toilet for the disabled, which is also accessible with a wheelchair, on the third floor next to the Italy section.

When is the most suitable time to visit the Wunderland in a wheelchair?

The most appropriate time to visit the Wunderland in a wheelchair are our Wheelchair Mondays, on which you will definitely have plenty of room in the exhibition. Other special events such as “Wunderland at Night“ or the “Culinary Trip around the World“ are also suitable for wheelchairs.

On weekends and during the holiday periods our exhibition can be very busy, therefore we suggest visiting us early in the morning or in the evening, when it won’t quite as full.

Will I be able to take part in a guided tour as a person with restricted mobility or in a wheelchair?

The maintenance alleyways behind the scenes are very tight and restrictive, therefore a participation of the guided tour is unfortunately not possible with a wheelchair or a walking frame.

Do the special events have barrier-free access?

The “Wunderland at Night“ and the “Culinary Trip around the World“ both have barrier-free access. At our “Big Tubs & Small Trains” event both the jetty and the Wunderland have barrier-free access. Though due to the tide, the ramp at the jetty can be pretty steep. The access to the ship unfortunately contains a couple of steps and is not barrier-free. Additionally it is only equipped with a normal handrail and we are not allowed to assist you in any form due to matters of insurance.
