Miniatur Wunderland Guestbook
I have flown specially to Hamburg from a business trip to southern Europe with the expectation and hope of seeing your amazing exhibit. Despite checking your website 4 weeks ago, asking the Park Hyatt hotel to reserve tickets for me and my wife, incurring the plane, taxi and hotel costs, I show up to the front door only to be told that you closed for two days 4 and 5 December, 2009. I am out of pocket $1200.00 and disappointed. Your 365 a day advertising and web site leaves a lot to be desired. Disappointed, annoyed and out of pocket $1200. Even your website as I write this says you are open with zero wait time. Hope you have courage to post this email.

Dear William,
when we got the offer to be part of one of Germanys most important TV Shows we were so excited on the one hand. But we were also afraid that the message "we have to close for 2 days" might not reach every visitor. We do say "open 365 days a year" and we never broke this promise the last 9 years. We contacted every single person who had made a reservation. We contacted the newspapers to help spreading the news and we put big ads onto our homepage hoping everyone would read it. We informed all of our partner hotels. Even on the days the exhibition was closed we invited everyone who stood in front of our doors to come in and have something to eat for free. Now we know that we didn´t reach everyone and that there are people who are really disappointed in us even though we tried to take every possible precaution.
We are awefully sorry about your dilemma. On every other day it would have been very charming to read that someone put so much effort into visiting the Wunderland - we only wish you would have chosen another day. We are not sure yet what we will do, but we ask you to send us the bill of the costs you invested into the trip to Hamburg. To be realistic we won´t be able to give you back all the money. But we would still like to think about a solution how we can ease your disappointment - at least a little.
And of course we will publish your comment as we publish every comment. For us it is really important to be credible and to give an authentic picture of how people see the Miniatur Wunderland. We are also thankful to get negative Feedback as well. That is the only way we can learn and see where we stand.
Well enough of who we are and who we would like to be. We do understand that you are angry and we really hope we can arrange something to give this negative experience at least a little positive touch.
We are looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,
Stephan Hertz
You need to be complimented on what should be a Wonder of the Modern world.
I am determined to see it one day.
Keep up the constructing....your imagination is your limit. :-)

Gracias
Thirty years have passed and the children have gone, but we have all remembered the wonderful enjoyment of watching the trains go around our very small table in our workshop, which we had built with love and dedication.
To this day, I just love model railways and hopefully one day, finance permitting, we could come to see your remarkable achievement. I took a "journey" via your website on one of your trains through tunnels, mountains and wonderful scenery. Hopefully this will become a reality for us in the future to take that journey.
Thank you for an absolutely wonderful exhibit.
Best regards,

Please keep up the good work.
miniaturland in a swedish paper for retired persons and I was astonished over your presentation of the LKAB ironore mine. First i did not recognaize the building that was shown. I did not work within LKAB but lived in Kirun for 35 Years and had many opportunites to visit the area. Second it must have been more than fourty years since the miners wore transported in lifts. They are used only for transport of iron-ore and have a speed of more than 100km/hour.so it would be letal to try to be ransported in them. Of course you will not pay any attention to remarks from an old man from the unimportant country as Sweden but anyway i could not resist when you present one of the most important companies in this unimportant land in such a missleading Way. Hopng for a swift change in the presentation of LKAB and the town of Kiruna.
Kindest regards

Dear Mr. Hällén,
please allow us to comment your complaint about our presentation of Kiruna Mine, respectively of Miniatur Wunderland as a whole:
As our company name Miniatur Wunderland (engl. Wonderland) implies, we neither claim, nor are we committed to showing our tiny world in a realistic manner or rebuild city maps. There are so many realistic model layouts throughout the world, we wanted to create something different and exciting, and appeal not only to railroad fans, but to the whole population including women and kids. In our layout we tried to integrate many aspects of life: realistic scenes (e.g. the functions of our fire engines), as well as imaginary and magical scenes (e.g. fairies in Norway, Pipi Longstocking in Sweden, or aliens in Area 51), and historic features (e.g. the "Big Boy" still running in America).
And by the way, a delegation of our staff visited Kiruna including Esrange and LKAB, and built this plant conferring with its management. Certainly, we do not intend to offend anyone or to be misleading. We mean to show a lot of love for everyday details, clichees, and most of all we want to put smiles on the faces of our guests. Simply put: It's supposed to be fun!
I suggest, you visit our website at miniatur-wunderland.com to get a better impression of what our company is all about.
With best regards
