A race against time begins. The musical is staged close to the original – with its humor and the hits of the blockbuster – such as The Power of Love (Huey Lewis & The News), Earth Angel (Marvin Berry & The Starlighters), and Johnny B. Goode (Chuck Berry).

Landed in the future: Raphael Groß and Jan Kersjes become Marty McFly and Doc Brown

Raphael Groß and Jan Kersjes take on the lead roles in the German-language production of "Back to the Future – The Musical" at the Stage Operettenhaus in Hamburg. Raphael Groß is already a familiar name to Hamburg audiences. He is currently performing as Romeo in the pop musical JULIA at the Operettenhaus and portrayed Alfred in the classic Tanz der Vampire (Dance of the Vampires). The role of Marty McFly fulfills a long-held dream for him: “I’ve never won the lottery, but being able to play Marty McFly comes pretty close, I think. Except instead of millions, I got a time machine!”

Jan Kersjes is also no stranger to the musical scene. At the Operettenhaus, he has already delighted audiences as King George in Hamilton, as Olaf in Disney’s Frozen, and currently as Timon in Disney’s The Lion King, where he shines with subtle humor and puppetry skills. Now he travels through time as Doc Brown: Jan Kersjes says, “I practically know the first Back to the Future movie by heart. Doc Brown is an absolute cult figure for me—and now I actually get to drive the DeLorean. It feels like I've landed right in the middle of the movie!”
