The Atacama Desert is the driest place in the world and is currently developing alongside the rainforest. In the past, saltpeter was mined there, and abandoned, rusted ruins still bear witness to this era today. Lukas and Teresa are currently working on recreating such a saltpeter factory true to the original, including movable elements. The result is an impressive model that brings the history of this unique region back to life. Many parts have to be artificially aged to look rusted, covered in sand, and give the impression of years of abandonment.
