Signed Picture Vinyl/CD – a hit not only for the charts?

The song “Bildschirmblick” will be released on November 7: a labor of love about smartphone use, completed with a video from Wunderland and perhaps a hit for better youth development.

Today, I, Frederik Braun, one of the founders of Wunderland, together with my wife Johanna, am sending you a personal letter. We hope that many of you will support us.

This is not a fun project, but a project with a very special meaning to me, and it could be a hit. A hit for the charts and a hit for better youth development. Our model builders have created many great scenes for this, which will be used to make the video and the pictures for the Picture Vinyl and CD, which you can already pre-order in a limited and signed edition with free shipping (within Germany), thus receiving a very special collector's item and significantly supporting our project.

The highlight of the Picture Vinyl

All prints are individually signed before pressing, so the signature is under the vinyl. Absolutely unique. The first edition of the CDs has also been individually signed by me. Both also include the second song, “Okay, heute kein Handy. Versprochen!”

What's it all about?
First, a brief summary. More details and emotions follow below.

  • Smartphones & children – a topic that concerns us as parents of five children on a daily basis.
  • The song is funny, catchy, socially critical, without being preachy.
  • If we can get it into the charts together, we can finally bring the topic more into the public eye. Many other countries have long since created clear laws to better protect children and young people.

We will donate all proceeds to the Rolf Zuckowski Foundation – so that children can experience more music instead of cell phones.

What can you do?

  • Buy now: Original signed, limited edition CD (€8.90) or the beautiful picture vinyl (€14.90). This really helps the charts (vinyl/CD counts as roughly 500 streams).
  • Download starting next week → downloads are also very valuable for the charts.
  • Stream and share starting November 7 → Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Deezer, Amazon.
  • Share with friends and talk about it → because it's not just about music, it's about our children and their future.

Why?

Because we see every day what happens when children get smartphones too early. We have five children between the ages of two and eleven. As an educator, Johanna has studied this topic extensively. Studies from around the world all come to the same conclusion: smartphones are dangerous for children and young people. And yet, far too little is being done about it here in Germany. Other countries have long since established clear rules, while we are still just discussing the issue.

Johanna recently gave an emotional, well-founded presentation at a parents' evening. Many parents were grateful, while others responded with arguments that, to be honest, shocked us. Two days later, I had a magical moment: at the airport, three friends (aged around 15–17) sat next to each other, staring at their cell phones for 15 minutes without saying a word. Next to them were two men around 50 who were having an intense, emotional conversation during the same time. This contrast struck me deeply—I wrote the text for “Bildschirmblick” on the plane.

The song is not didactic, but describes the current situation with humor, beats, and a catchy tune. We hope that it will reach young people and parents alike without anyone pointing fingers—and that we as a society will finally talk more about this issue.

We will send a detailed press release with lots of information about the song and the topic to 1,000 journalists. With your help, we may even be able to send along our first chart hopes.

Since we are only interested in the cause, we will donate all proceeds to the “Rolf Zuckowski Foundation – Kinder brauchen Musik". The more successful the song becomes, the more children and young people we can encourage to engage with music and at least not use their cell phones during that time.

An unusual step:
Except for my lyrics, the song was created using digital studio technology and AI programs. We also recorded “real” versions—none of which came close to this digital production. Because the subject matter is more important to us than how it was created, we decided to release the digital version. We are aware that this is a complex topic. Since we love real music, we want to try something crazy → We are making “Bildschirmblick” officially an “open source” song. Any musician can use it, re-record it, and release it. We are releasing the rights – our own version will remain with us to raise money for the foundation. But we would like to see lots of versions that all contribute to the topic. If you would like to do this, please send us a quick message. We have prepared a document that grants you the rights.

If this song works, it could be an opportunity for the media, politicians, and society to finally address the issue more intensively.

And perhaps together we can create clear rules – to protect our children.
