Wendelberg

Wunderland's largest track helix: On a distance of 75 meters the trains can overcome a height of 1.4 meters.

There is a secret inside Wendelberg, only to be seen through a small opening at the fore mountain flank. From the outside you can witness the trains disappear into the bottomless pit only to come out again, right below the top. Peeking inside the mountain you can admire the Wunderland’s largest track helix. It consists of 170 meters of tracks, evenly spread on 12 levels of a spiral, each 1.6 meters in diameter, raising upwards like a spiral staircase. Covering a distance of 75 meters the trains can overcome a height of 1.4 meters (this corresponds with a travel time of approximately 5 minutes). With the use of 16 mm strong steel threaded rods and screw nuts the incline of the different levels can be exactly adjusted.
