Kesselhaus

The Kesselhaus, a brick building built in 1886/87, has once been the center of power in Hamburg's Historic Warehouse District (Speicherstadt). Nowasdays, here you'll find the InfoCenter of the new HafenCity, providing almost every information about the biggest inner-city construction project of Europe. You can read up on the progress of construction works and the current changes in the area between Elbbrücken and Kehrwiederspitze. There is an 8 x4 meter large model at a scale of 1:500 in the Kesselhaus, which documents every change in the new city center quarter. Since the opening in 2000, many people from home and abroad have visited the InfoCenter. Brochures, varying exhibits, current architectural competitions, and the impressive model provide ample opportunities to get an idea about the project.
