The route through the city is shorter than the alternative route over the Köhlbrandbrücke. However, the latter is a lot more interesting. Regarding traffic info, pay attention to traffic jams on Kieler Straße (B4) or before the Elbtunnel direction South. We took pictures of crucial points, which will help you to orientate yourself. You'll find them with the corresponding descriptions on this page.

You will reach the Autobahndreieck Hamburg-Nordwest (Highway Intersection Hamburg Northwest) at kilometer 2 on the A23.

Getting to the highway junction Hamburg-Nordwest, keep on straight towards Hamburg-Stellingen.

Behind the highway exit, drive across the bridge and to the right lane, onto Kieler Straße.

Follow the street for approx. 6 km ( 3.7 miles ). The pictures should be helpful for orientating yourself on the way. Don’t be confused by the fact that the street changes its name to Holstenstraße - you still want to go straight ahead.

You now cross the Reeperbahn, afterwards the Holstenstraße changes into Pepermölenbeck.

After a hundred metres you will pass a small bridge. At the traffic light behind the bridge, turn left onto the Breite Straße. The River Elbe is in front of you now, and you follow the street parallel to the river. By the way, the Breite Straße is called Sankt Pauli Fischmarkt / Hafenstraße from this point on.

Driving past on your left hand side, Landungsbrücken, you will  pass one of Hamburg’s landmarks, the three-master ship Rickmer Rickmers.

You drove parallel to the River Elbe for approx. 1 km now, first on the street Johannisbollwerk, and afterwards Vorsetzen.

Please, make a right turn now onto the bridge Niederbaumbrücke and follow (go straight past the roundabout) the street Am Sandtorkai.

Pass underneath a small pedestrian bridge, and then take a left turn onto the street Auf dem Sande.

If you turn left at the next block of buildings (shortly before the bridge), you will arrive directly at the parking lot in front of Miniatur Wunderland. Welcome!
