Tips for Peak Season Summertime

How to handle our waiting lines

If you don’t want to wait in our legendary waiting lines, here’s our tip: During school vacations or on the weekends, avoid arriving in our peak hours between 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. If that’s not possible, you have some other options:
Option 1 – Reserving your ticket
On our website, you can get information on our current and expected waiting time. Here, you have the possibility to see our waiting time forecast, and to reserve tickets. If your desired arrival time is available (available times are green, the times which are already booked out are marked in red), click on the according field. In the window following, you can enter you data, and then we will send you an e-mail with your booking number. With that number you can proceed directly to the entrance register for reserved tickets to receive your tickets. Please note that a separate entrance for reserved tickets is on the left hand side of the waiting area.

Option 2 – Ordering tickets and advance booking
You can also order tickets in our online shop. Please note while planning your trip, that when ordering tickets, between receipt of your payment and dispatch of your tickets, a few days may pass!
Online shop
If you are spending several days in Hamburg, and our contingent for ticket reservation is already exhausted, we offer two more options: the pre-sale ticket, which you can buy directly in our shop, or the fast ticket. Other than the pre-sale ticket, which is valid without time limit, but only from the following day forward, the fast ticket is like a reservation for the same day.
Option 3 – Fast Tickets
Fast tickets are sold on-site by our staff. With these tickets you will have preferred entrance at a later time, but on the same day. For example: in the morning you are buying a fast ticket for 3 p.m., you will not have to stand in line later on, and you are able to spend the meantime with fun things to do in Hamburg. At the time noted on your ticket, you will then proceed directly to the register for pre-reserved tickets, show your fast ticket and get in. Please note that a separate entrance for fast tickets is on the left hand side of the waiting area.
Option 4 – Combined ticket for the exhibition and a guided backstage tour
In case you have booked a guided backstage tour, you also don’t have to wait in line. By the way, we offer guided tours in English once day on most days. They are limited to 6 people, so give us a call, and book your tour early on, to make sure we have an English guide scheduled on that day! Please note that a separate entrance for guided backstage tours is on the left hand side of the waiting area.
Too late?
In case you cannot use any of these options, you might have to wait in line. As no one likes waiting, we will show you little clips, and serve free beverages in the meantime. Sometimes we’ll serve ice cream for the kids, to make waiting as comfortable as possible.
If you have any questions, our staff in the waiting area will be happy to help. Please note that a separate entrance for reserved tickets and fast tickets is on the left hand side of the waiting area.
