Advertizing in the Miniatur Wunderland

How does the Miniatur Wunderland handle advertizing in and on the layout?

Lately, we were asked quite often wether we grant permissions to advertize in our layout. We take this oppertunity to point out our standpoint:

The Miniatur Wunderland is a dream world. We want to give our guests the oppertunity to break out of reality for few hours and indulge in phantasy instead. Although we try hard to build as close to reality as possible, we don't feel being obligated to model each and every trend. Therefore, we decided not to blemish the Wunderland cities with blinking neon signs or oversized billboards. We like to stay independent, not disturb our visitors' experiences with advertizing, and most important of all: We don't want to sell our soul.

Nonetheless, there are areas where reality demands advertizing. Just imagine all trucks in the Wunderland roads would show shiny white flanks without any lettering. In addition, we aim to build to very high standards. The conclusion was to allow cooperations which have an absolute market value for our visitors. A good example for such a cooperation is the chocolate plant of Lindt & Sprüngli. We badly wanted to build a working Swiss chocolate plant which ejects real chocolate and visualizes the production line as real as possible. That's why we reached an agreement with Messrs. Lindt that they will help us out with their know how and sponsor the chocolate. In return, we built the historic Lindt & Sprüngli chocolate plant in Kilchberg. We think that visitors, Wunderland, and Lindt have all an equal profit share from this cooperation. To make a long story short: The Wunderland will always be an ideal picture of reality, comitted only to its visitors and not to some companies.
