AOL Arena
Entering the Hamburg part, there is no chance to go pass the AOL Arena without noticing its dimensions.
This model is a very special construction as can be guessed by the following numbers: The building required more than 1,000 working hours. Adding labour costs and material costs, it is worth more than 20,000 €. 12,000 figures are sitting or standing on grandstands, all of them glued in place by hand. Approximately 2,000 LEDs ensure a perfect illumination of the stadium.
By the way, the arena has been built on a scale of 1:150, as a true to scale (1:87) copy would have been 2.20 metres by 3.00 metres across. The legendary match of HSV vs. St. Pauli in 2001 regularly takes place in the AOL Arena.
The game has been played 240,840 times by now, with the HSV leading 963,360 to 722,520 goals (updated: 05/2007).
