Miniatur Wunderland Weekly Report

Weekly Report No 303, CW 33
From Monday, 14.08.2006 to Sunday, 20.08.2006The Miniatur Wunderland is open for 5 years now;
...a good reason to stage a big party. For such a party you need:
1. Guests who arrived in big numbers,
2. A speech which (naturally) Freddy with pleasure took care of..
3. The birthday cake which was a bit larger than usual so everybody could share a piece! :-)
We had 5 birthday cakes, each with it's own theme: Cake 1: The new logo of the Miniatur Wunderland
Cake 2: The first building section with Harz mountains, Knuffingen, and Alps mountains
Cake 3: Hamburg, the second building section
Cake 4: USA, the third building section
Cake 5: The fourth section: Scandinavia
Of course, everybody waited for the cakes to be cut and handed out!
Shortly after we cheered and had a toast to the layout with 420 guests (!!!!!) at midnight, ...
our forumaniacs became really busy handing out the cakes!
It was so incredibly packed, a really new (but also a really good) experience on a Tuesday at around 00:30 hrs :-)
We were absolutely not sure that we had enough cake for all the people!
We accounted for many guests ...
...but never dreamed of being at the point of (nearly) re-opening the waiting area at around 11 PM. Incredible!!!
There were long lines for the cake and in the end ...
...we were really happy that everybody (!!) had at least one or two pieces :-)
For every birthday party, you also need games. Since we couldn't play "pot slamming" with more than 400 guests (we wouldn't even have that many pots :-) ),
...we initiated an anniversary raffle for a charity project. We yielded more than 2,500 EUR...
...which were rounded up to 3,000 EUR and will be forwarded to the project Sternenbrücke. This project was initiated to allow kids with non healable deseases to spend their last days in dignity.
Who must not be absent when the Miniatur Wunderland celebrates?
Correct: our forumaniacs as can be seen on this picture of the hour.
During the last 5 years we were able to welcome so many celebrities in our rooms that we decided to install a "Wall of Fame" on our birthday. Funny though, who already visited the Wunderland! :-)
Freddy moderated the birthday party all night long and was "besieged" by interested visitors who wanted to get replies to their questions.
Apart from many anekdotes, Freddy also told a lot about the history of the Wunderland.
Here's a "time lapse" view of the cakes.
Thanks a lot to all guests who celebrated with us and: See you in 5 years (latest)! :-))
