Model building fair in Hamburg! Just the fact that we spent 4 days ( 3 day s fair + 1 day setup) there, should be worth a dedicated report. For starters, we were located at the end of hall 11 but thanks to planning and with a bit of luck we could be well seen from from the entrance (hall 11 ) and nobody really had problems to find us. Must have had something to do with with the height of our booth which was 5 m (16.4 ft) high, and the 1,5 m (5 ft) high, 9 m (29. ft) long Banners ;-)
Flood warning in Hamburg and yet again the phones rang without giving us a break. But as long as Hamburg is not declared a catastrophy area, we won't get wet feet and our guests have a chance to come in.
At this time parts of the Elbchausse and the Fischmarkt had been flooded long ago.
Hall 10, it is Thursday morning and...
...and a small scout team ( 6 guys) start setting up...
Somebody said that one could still see what we did in our earlier lives. No, it's not a discottec, this really going to be the Miniatur Wunderland fair booth ;-) But we admit that Sven (our technical planner of the booth) is defnitely a stage and lighting master ;-)
Reinforcements arrived in the afternoon, as well as more material. So the booth's appearance improved significantly.
Thursday evening, everything's ready and set up:
Shop, stage, work areas, every nook and cranny is fitted out and looks nice.
Even in spite of our 288 sqm we sometimes had the feeling of running out of space. The cinema was packed and to the right, hmmmmm, I thought we had a shop somewhere in that direction?
Maybe we should plan for sign next time, that would dwarf the crowd and make sure, everybody could see the shop?
Even in spite of the fact that the kids were either in school or at home doing their homework, and thus the first day (Friday) day was actually quite calm, Uli also had to tackle the big interest on the stage.
But the following two days were of a kind that Uli was barely able to speak on Sunday evening. Thanks for the super show, you put on, Uli!
Close to and behind the stage one could watch our associates working and ask them questions.
No matter, wether it was scenery (Harry put on the wire mesh and plaster the first two days and Cat let it green on the third day), building structures (Sabine and Manfred),...
...Mechanics, electronics, ...
...and more objects for Scandinaiva ( this is a small ruin of an ancient fortress).
Be it trains or ships; our team had answers to all questions and helped out with tips and tricks.
Some bad guys state that we wanted to save on free tickets (these could have been won on stage) when we sent these 'little boys' out to wrestle...
but thanks to an highly alert jury, these somwhat 'over-qualified' boys in the blue pullovers were not allowed to compete with the kids...
As far as this object is concerned, we will have a closer look at it in the near future. Or does anybody know what it is?
