In "Normal state" the system displays free lanes, a speed limit of 65 mph as well as a text from a selection of basic informations...

like the current temperature (Yep, it gets colder at night), -

For traffic info tune 93.1 FM - Conditions Clear - Turn on your lights (in front of the tunnel) - and many more…

Should the temperature drop below 34°F (1°C), every second bridge shows the warning “Road may be icy at times"

If traffic densitiy gets too high, the bridge at the zone causing the problem and the two bridges before show “Heavy traffic“

and the speed limit is set to 55 mph.

The following bridge shows

„Conditions Clear“

If a vehicle has an accident and can't be moved off the road, the lane is closed and the bridge shows (for example) „left lane closed“. The speed limit is set to 25 mph.

The first bridge before the accident shows, “Left lane ends 1/2 mile" and reduces the speed limit to 45 mph. The lane indicator shows a yellow blinking arrow pointing to the right.

The second bridge before the problem zone shows, depending on the situation ahead, „WARNING! Traffic jam ahead“ or “Left lane ends 1 mile" and reduces the speed limit to 55 mph.

If the emergency lane is affected,

"Emergency lane closed“ or "Emergency lane ends ½ mile“ is shown and the speed limit is reduced to 55 mph.

The following bridge shows „Conditions Clear“.

An accident either causes all lanes to be closed,

all approbiate warnings to be shown, and

the traffic to be diverted over the emergency lane.

The system also recognizes "man made" scenarios.

We have a bush fire (Yes, the display has been corrected in the meantime ;-) )

and an accident.
