D-Day!!!. In the company of very nice godfathers, a big bunch of press folks, and without sleep we officially released the Hamburg section on Wednesday.
Freddy personally welcomed and accompanied our 1st mayor Ole von Beust at our front door (fr.l. Hinnerk Fock, the bodyguard, Ole von Beust, Freddy Braun) .
Then, an in-depth tour around the new section followed which gave the opportunity to introduce all the highlights.
Ole von Beust cuts through the red ribbon and so officially releases the Hamburg section to the public (fr.l. Stephan Hertz, Hinnerk Fock, Gerrit Braun, Freddy Braun & Ole von Beust).
As a gift, Ole von Beust presents the ICE3 which the Deutsche Bahn AG gave to the town of Hamburg on the occasion of its baptism as "Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg" on 6.11.2002. Mr. von Beust said that he wouldn't know of a place more adequate for the train...
head pastor Helge Adolphsen (1. from left) is the godfather for St. Michaelis church and starts the trumpeteer by pushing a button.
The commander of the Hamburg Firefighters, Dieter Farrenkopf (in the foreground), starts the rescue mission in Hamburg.
The bosses of Hamburg playing with Hamburg
Dr. Claus Hagenbeck was the godfather for our zoo and initiated the "jungle nights" with his pushbutton.
Under the watchfull eyes of Freddy Braun, the HSV - players (fr.l.) Martin Pickenhagen, Nico-Jan Hoogma, and Bernd Hollerbach started the AOL-arena. In the arena, the famous local derby HSV - FC St.Pauli of 2.12.2001 is played which the HSV won narrowly by 4:3.
And that's what all this hassle was about: Our Hamburg
The Landungsbrücken in Hamburg
St. Michaelis church in Hamburg
The Köhlbrand bridge in Hamburg at sunset
Hamburg's zoo: Hagenbeck's Tierpark
Circus and North Sea coast
Sheer madness: AOL-Arena at night....
