Weekly Report No 6, CW 49

From Monday, 04.12.2000 to Sunday, 10.12.2000

One week to go until the modeling jobs can start and so the preparations for this have top priority. The first wood arrived! The paint jobs are almost done! Now our rooms are good-looking. We will, however, need another 10-15 weeks to completely finish the rooms. Let alone the lighting will use up roughly 10 weeks working time! More than 500 spots will light up the layout in a completely new manner. Gerrit Braun finished programming his software! About 10 computers will be assigned to control the lights on the layout as well as the ceiling lights. 30 minutes equal 24 hours on our layout! The computer simualtes a day from dawn to dusk! More than 20,000 will go on and off on the layout, controlled (almost) individually by the computers. Using the 500 partly coloured ceiling spots, the twilight and night will be simulated prototypically. When twilight sets in, the lights go on individually! This will be a world premiere!!

What seemed impossible some weeks ago, slowly comes true: This will be a place to feel comfy in!

These elaborately milled wooden parts will later form the benchwork.

The benchwork slowly shows contours. BTW, about 20 square meters ( 215.27 sq ft ) can be seen in this picture = 5 % of the total layout area!
