The planned airport

Currently, we are planning the new airport which is supposed to be opened in summer of 2008. We are testing different ground-breaking systems that simulate the start and landing process of the aircrafts. It hasn’t been decided yet which system we are going to be working with.

However, it’s certain that the airport will have an extensive Carsystem. There won’t be places in a fiddle yard but the vehicles will stay in the correspondent depots. Besides a well equipped airport fire department, there will be a volume of busses, catering vehicles, tank trucks, pumps and fresh water vehicles, push-back vehicles…. The airport section will be attached to the section of Knuffingen, so that the charging station (it has been expanded to 32 spots) is being shared. Moreover, the fire department of Knuffingen will support the airport’s department with up to 40 fire engines in case of emergency landings. Additionally, the delivery vehicles will supply the airport from Knuffingen.

Approx. 400 meters of road, approx. 200 junctions, a maximum of 200 vehicles
