Hello Miwula, Erhard, and fans,

The Danish Crown Prince Frederik today inaugurated the extension of the Copenhagen Metro line, the new line runs directly onto the Copenhagen airport terminal 3 building with a terminus station in a 90 degree angle, crossing the airport access road and the motorway to Sweden on a bridge for either track.

(This is the Prince Frederik who has a railway ferry - live and model - named after him you know!) Very Happy

I shall look for pictures of the airport metro station when available.

The Copenhagen Metro has a web site www.m.dk with also an English version, this does however not appear to be updated with images of the new stations as yet.

The Metro trains are fully automatic and runs on normal 1,435 meter gauge, both in tunnel, on the ground and on pillars. The trains are a very good prototype example for a so-called people mover. The metro ride from the airport to downtown metro stations takes 9 - 14 minutes.

The Copenhagen airport is also on the railway line from Copenhagen to Malmö, Sweden, travel time between airport station and Copenhagen Central is 12 minutes, and also the airport tunnel station is a very elegant and an excellent prototype example.

I have now posted some pictures of the airport terminal train station in the German section under Flughafen / Fernbahnhof

Best wishes - alles gute

Jan. 16: Here are some photos by Matthias and Jonas Frey of the Airport Metro line found in www.bahnbilder.de:

and here is a link to Mr. Erik V. Pedersen's site that gives the best impression of the 90 degree approach of the new metro to the airport terminal (and Hilton Hotel) of the metro line. This site has by the way very good photos of a number of Danish railway station buildings:
